I actually know window seats as places where you lean against the side panels, and these are usually deeper because there is a shelf around the window seat.

I think the window seat is used more like a place to sit and look into the room - without leaning against anything.

I love our window seat - it's in my office/music room and when I have a conference call where you don't have to be on video and don't have to look at the screen, I always sit in the window and look at the mountains.

outside is unfortunately still a construction site. The landscape gardener will not come until mid-September. We have thought for a long time about whether to integrate such a modern wooden frame (with a depth of 60 cm) into the reveal, so that you can also lie down or lounge inside. But I think that does not fit so well with bay windows and would appear too intrusive in the overall view of the room.

I think you don’t sit in a "sitzfenster" anyway, as it is uncomfortable. You can place cushions there and it becomes a decorative corner.

That’s true. Although I have to say that especially children (mine, but especially those of visitors) like to sit there and look at picture books. They are then close to the parents sitting at the table but still have their own space. Even at parties with many people, it provides additional seating. But yes, of course, it is a nicer windowsill to sit on. Outside, the wooden deck where the dining table is supposed to stand connects directly at the corner, so it definitely creates a nice look when looking out. Our main garden is to the right from the picture’s perspective....
