Well, I assume that is a glass roof which has this straw/bamboo/whatever layer underneath. I like it, but I always wonder with glass roofs whether it doesn't act like a greenhouse and gets terribly hot underneath. When it comes to shading, you always make sure that it is on the outside. Therefore, I don't quite understand the purpose of [Unterdachmarkisen] on glass roofs...

Be careful with partial shade and the risk of sunburn. The feeling of intense heat on the skin is missing, yet it still gets burned.

Why is it actually such a killer construction? Because you like it? That could surely have been done a bit more streamlined, right?

If you have side panels, it will certainly get very warm. If not, or if they are completely open, it is absolutely no problem. In my opinion, the difference between internal or external shading is marginal; we have a direct comparison with our neighbor here. With our internal shading, it is not warmer without side panels, but our fabric stays nice and clean...

Exactly, above it is plexiglass, which is now hardly visible except from above because it is covered from below by the reed mats, and there is also a row of bricks all around that blocks the view of it and the drainage.

Do you mean the pillars? Yes, it could definitely have been slimmer, but we wanted it this way, although they are not finished yet. There will be an outdoor kitchen under the roof and the wall will not remain as it is finally but will be visually changed. In the corner there will be a lounge/dining area. Overall, it's about 4x6m covered. Next to it is a larger uncovered area. Maybe I'll take a picture "from outside" later.
