Exactly. That’s why it amuses me when people who otherwise pay attention to "organic" use ceramic with a wood look. Especially for them, such products should be as "transgenic" unwelcoming – if not more so than for me.Either it is wood or it is tiles.

For "absolute color tone matches" between different materials, one would have to define it by Pantone; with RAL this is not possible at all – the specification "similar" regarding RAL-based color designations of building materials is not without reason. So this has less to do with the variation within a production or even a single batch, and more with the different effect of the same color pigments on different surface qualities.
