You can electrify (almost) all types of shading. Also shutters, etc. Whether one wants that is another matter. Both opinions are legitimate. It feels like most people would like it, but they refrain because of the budget and try to retrofit later. Integration into a Smart Home is then a further step...

In the shell it was 100cm, now it was just under 90cm, if I remember the number correctly....

The fence fits quite harmoniously into the picture. Nice and simple. I like it. I probably would have chosen the gate one meter wider to make full use of the driveway width. Nice garage. How big is it? 22° roof pitch?

Thanks for the compliments.

I met with the fence builder over a year ago, and since the municipality only granted a 4m driveway, we agreed on that. Then at some point the paver came, and we just paved it to look harmonious. It’s a bit unfortunate that the gate doesn’t fit exactly onto the driveway now. But you can’t have everything.

The garage measures 10.5 x 7 meters. Of that, 6 meters is clear length for the cars, and in the rear part there is still a separate "workshop" with the remaining meters.

The roof pitch of the garage is 18°, and of the house 26°.

I don't understand what people don't like about double rod mesh fences. Is it like art? Do you have to understand it to find it beautiful or ugly? Do many people just repeat what they hear or are they jealous of the lowest price?

We actually don't like it. We find it horrible. But there are reasons for that. At the moment we have a hedge, Portuguese cherry laurel. We just don't find the time to cut it etc. Then every year it has powdery mildew and a special kind of beetle whose larvae destroy the roots in winter/spring. We can't spray because of an 8m long pond with about 30 goldfish/shubunkins and four koi carp right next to the hedge. Since we definitely want privacy screening, only three options remain. Hedge? We don't want that because of the reasons mentioned above. Rod mat fence? We don't like it at all. Fancy privacy screen? Insanely expensive. So you're right, the money is a dilemma. But it has nothing to do with envy.
