Well, much is dictated by the development plan. We, for example, must (!) build a gable roof.

It was the same for us. I didn't like it particularly. Fortunately, a hip roof is considered a separate form of the gable roof. Corners and edges can be quite impractical. In a square or rectangular house, you have almost all possibilities inside. Besides, every centimeter of a bay window costs a lot in proportion....too much money in my opinion

- what is the view like?
- how would the room layout on the upper floor have to be?
- does it block light on the ground floor?
- how often would we even use it?

For me, it was a disadvantage, so I decided against a balcony.

Relatives of mine only say: "House only with a balcony and if possible a basement too."

My points don't matter to them at all!

But a balcony can also be really great.
