We will have 15 sqm kitchen + 3.5 sqm pantry. The utility room is 10 sqm in size. Considering reducing the kitchen size a bit and enlarging the guest toilet and pantry instead.

I wouldn't do that, both are already good sizes.

The pantry will not be cooler than the rest of the house either. It is located within the thermal envelope.

As long as there is another storage room on the ground floor for, for example, a vacuum cleaner and mop, a pantry is completely unnecessary in my opinion. It is more convenient to have everything easily accessible in the kitchen, provided it is large enough.

Hello,

The current plan doesn’t look bad to me at all; I’m also a big fan of the pantry.
Yes, it’s true that you can also create the space with cupboards in the kitchen, but with a pantry, you have a nice "messy corner" where you can just stash something away without having to store it neatly like God knows how. This is especially priceless with children.
I also find that beverage crates, the yellow bag, and various collection containers for waste paper and glass are much better stored there than in the kitchen itself.

Just a suggestion:

[*]No sliding door to the pantry; that ruins one wall as usable space. Use a regular door.
[*]If you build with controlled residential ventilation, install an exhaust vent in the pantry.
[*]I would redesign the bathroom: toilet under the window, sink where the toilet currently is. Then you can build a shower where the sink is now. Sooner or later, you’ll be grateful for the second shower in the house...

Best regards,

Andreas

As the pantry is drawn, I think it can be used that way, I find it OK. Good hints – also a hinged door with the hinge on the left side when viewed from the kitchen can stay open well if you have to go back and forth a lot. If sliding door, then wall-integrated and thus without loss of furniture space. Stealth mode would be another option: the kitchen row is continuous and behind a large front is the access to the pantry (disadvantage: vulnerable to everyday wear and tear). Cooler than the rest of the house, leaving aside the windowless position, certainly not without special measures – but also not warmer like the utility room, where a lot of electronics and stuff generate heat.

It is already a few days old, but may still be of interest to someone later.

We do have a basement but had another idea for the "pantry." In the current open layouts, we both found longer-running kitchen machines (Thermomix, Bosch MUM, etc.), blenders, or even "quickly frying something hot" not necessarily cozy. Therefore, besides the kitchen, we have a small "secondary kitchen," which includes 1 low row of 1.4m width, a tall cabinet, and an additional 80cm of work/storage space, as well as the possibility to separate loud and smelly things. Whether a hotplate will be installed or stored away in the cabinet is not yet decided.
