Be careful that the waste company does not change. We now have 2 more bins. Previously, there were only round and flat green bins. Now there is also blue for glass and additionally yellow for foil. Those who have boxes now somehow have to expand.

Round, flat green, grey. That really confuses you. I understand why many people don’t do it correctly (my wife, for example, still throws milk cartons into the waste paper). I don’t remember which country it was, but there they throw everything into one bin (I think except cardboard) and it is professionally and mechanically sorted by the waste disposal companies. Viewed from a system-wide perspective, this is even more cost-effective. Please don’t ask me for the source now, I forgot. But I do know that I have read about it.

… "Just a hedge" Looking for the Left Neighbor thread brought me here. A snail, as already said, takes up a lot of space. You don't even see the snail itself, probably only a lump of green is perceptible. You also have to calculate, buy, plant, and time a hedge over a few years. It seems to me like you're planning too much hedge ;)

A lot of space consumption and impractical. Maintenance effort also relatively high. Path always somewhat dirty and depending on wind direction, dirt accumulates there. Nice idea but for practical reasons I would not do it.

I never had dirty paths to/from the garbage bins in the previous house. :-) And where should the dirt come from if the hedge is dense and the garbage bins are closed? ;-) If I realize it, I will definitely post photos here. Would you like to show how/where your garbage bins are stored? I don’t like any of the alternatives I have seen so far on the internet or in reality. According to the development plan, the garbage bins are not allowed to be visible on our street, which I think is good, so most people make a great effort to place them near the street but still hide them.

I am talking about leaves etc., not about the garbage from the trash bins. The snail catches the wind and everything it brings with it. The hedge also sometimes loses leaves or needles. I have a lot of space. Therefore, I keep all the bins in the ventilated garage. Always take out the trash dry, trash nearby when you tinker/repair/work in the garage... If I didn’t have the space, I would have an enclosure for the trash bins. Depending on the house type, suitable in shape/material...
