Carport/Garage width - is 2.50 m enough or is that rather too narrow?

The 0.5 m ends up as a very unsightly "Schmuddelecke" - I would definitely not do (have) it that way.

2.5 m would be the absolute minimum for another parking space. Since cars are getting rather bigger than smaller, 3 m would of course be nice.

To my understanding, "moved" is used misleadingly here.

TE, please clarify again what you want to do with the garage now.
Should it be moved 50cm to the right according to the plan, or should it be 50cm wider?

According to the plan, it should move 50 cm to the right. Along the entire boundary, the neighbor has a very large and dense thuja that has grown over many years with a fence in the middle. (even minimally built over by 1-2 cm according to the surveyor) If we place the garage against it, we will never be able to plaster it and this damn stuff will keep growing around the garage forever. Furthermore, the hedge can never be properly trimmed in that area.

Therefore, the garage should be moved 50 cm away so that the garage can still be plastered and there is the possibility to trim the hedge at any time.

However, then we will only have 6.50 meters instead of 7 meters for 2 parking spaces and are looking for the best solution.

But we would like to have a garage, as we are building without a basement and some additional storage space will certainly be useful.

An unplastered wall, which is hidden by a hedge, wouldn’t bother me, honestly.

The neighbor is supposed to trim the hedge so you can build your garage there, then you let the greenery grow again and no one will see that wall.

I would rather say, have fun plastering when you only have 50cm of space. Penal labor!

You simply give away 0.5m, just because of such a stupid hedge. As long as it stands without plaster and if the neighbor ever removes it, then you just plaster that side.

Is a 50 cm boundary distance even allowed in RP? In Lower Saxony, you are not allowed to do that at all (for good reason, see [Müllecke]). And if the neighbor decides to remove his thuja trees the year after next, you will still have your garage standing awkwardly in the area forever… Build on the boundary!
