Explain that - and also what you would expect differently instead. What precast concrete modular garages are always optimized for is their minimal wall thickness - their original type is, after all, the Bauwich garage, which is appreciated when it offers an internal width of 282 at an external width of 298.

I clearly see the advantages in the price (but only to a limited extent, because in my opinion it is way too high for the quality) and also the space due to the thin walls.

However, I have concerns about these thin precast concrete walls... I consider cracking as well as mold growth to be serious issues.

Just stepping on the floor slab, the water just sits there... The walls are so thin and really don’t seem watertight to me either. I also suspect that you can get very serious problems with rust there.

Then of course the question: what happens in 20 years? Will I have to spend money to keep the garage in good condition? My brick garage lasts as long as my house... Meaning, usually I don’t have to invest much money.

If I have the garage built of masonry, I could also have it built to measure, i.e. get another 50 cm or so more space (of course, all a question of money), which is hardly possible in the prefab garage segment. Also, I could pave directly into the garage – so the water wouldn’t just sit there.

But as I said, of course, it’s all a matter of money. Ultimately, I store a few garden tools, car tires, 2 cars, bicycles...
What bothers me, however, is that apparently you can’t expect anything special for €25,000! Only for this reason am I considering having something built in masonry here.

Built it, I think the garage cost 50k. 8.5 by 7.5 meters with exposed roof truss. I think it will still stand exactly the same in 100 years....

You do realize that [gemauert] will be even more expensive, right?

Yes, of course. But then at least I have something "proper" - that's the idea.

It really depends on how big the price difference is.

Hm..... one could of course have such a thought about any equipment feature since there is always something "better" or "smarter," right? I wouldn’t pay such an extra cost for a garage or a parking space unless I were a mechanic and had to work in it for long periods. For a feeling of the supposedly "better," on the other hand, I would gladly spend more money in the living area if it made me feel better. For these extra sums in the car/garage area, one could create many nice or pleasant situations in the living area. Why not a carport that can also be closed or designed on the sides as desired, possibly even with a green roof, etc.? The purpose would be served just as well?
