Is property. also so. But uncreased is not the norm, so rather the special design, which makes it a bit more expensive. However, the price difference mainly comes from the hinges. Uncreased is usually installed with concealed hinges, e.g. TECTUS from Simonswerk, which are quite costly. Add a magnetic latch lock and the door becomes really expensive overall. But I find double the price exaggerated. I have paid a 30-40% surcharge in recent years (however, once from the carpenter and once from a Czech manufacturer - both to my satisfaction). Personally, the look is worth it to me ;-)

That varies greatly depending on perspective. The type of builder "(self-perception): 'price-conscious'" often, to put it mildly, has no qualms about discount stores, where the differences can easily be close to 50% for plastic. According to the specialist company, plastic is rather around 80%, and in my opinion, therefore only appears cheaper than aluminum based on simplistic calculations, since aluminum has much longer replacement cycles. I was a manufacturer of aluminum windows and don’t mind being considered biased for that reason. Personally, I would never take plastic for owner-occupied properties, but I grant every "bargain hunter" their plastic if it makes them happy. In an average earner’s private home – more about comfort, not luxury – "plastic suffices" is probably the general reality, but even there I would choose aluminum for the front door – not side entrance doors – and for lift-and-slide elements from 4m width upwards (as well as always for folding sliding elements). Read what else I write here, consider me reasonable and do the same, or think I’m quirky and do it differently :-)

When we were still looking for a general contractor to build our house, we contacted a variety of companies. None of these general contractors had aluminum windows as a standard part of their construction services, not even the higher-priced ones.
With the front doors, it was the case that companies in the mid-price segment already had aluminum doors as standard, but with billing rates that only allowed for a very limited selection of doors without extra charges.
Viewed over the lifespan of a window, aluminum may even be cheaper, but the initial additional costs have to be borne at a time when you don't necessarily have extra money.

Yes, we had some customers who only switched to aluminum at the first replacement – so around the time the house was paid off. Before that, they had about half/half plastic or wood.

Hmm, from 1997 to 2016 we had a terraced house with plastic windows, all of which were still completely fine. Double glazed. How long is the replacement period supposed to be for aluminum vs PVC? I mean, you still have to live through that. And what causes a PVC window to break? You can replace the handle or something, a hinge or a rubber seal as well. Karsten

Broken in the sense of fracture, no, rather not. A common reason for replacement is visible signs of aging - and that sellers often omit that rubber seals are also available separately and opening mechanisms can be adjusted.
