Install controlled residential ventilation ducts without a basement?

Hello Robson, Intuitively, I would also say that it should be technically feasible. It would be interesting to know if anyone here has done that. There should be no static issues on the ground floor. When installing the hoses on the raw floor, I am concerned that we will lose too much ceiling height. Also, higher noise? This risk does not exist when the pipes are embedded in the concrete (possibly thicker concrete layer or more reinforcement due to statics).

With us, the ventilation ducts are installed on the raw subfloor, and later the underfloor heating and screed are laid on top. This results in a total thickness (excluding the concrete floor) of 17.5 cm on the ground floor, including the floor covering. I cannot imagine that in the concrete ceiling at all; ours is full of steel mesh (multiple layers).

Best regards
Sabine

You obviously have to plan for the possibly necessary additional height. On the raw screed floor of the ground floor, I would probably only do this if I also had insulation under the slab. Just a feeling ...

Will there be an upper floor? Then I consider installing them in the ceiling of the ground floor to be the best choice. The ground floor will then be supplied from the ceiling and the upper floor from the floor. The lines then lie only in one plane (with connection to the device in the utility room, more or less close to the ceiling).

In my opinion, you do not have to worry about the mixing. But make sure that you do not have a supply air outlet directly above the sofa or a seat (study, dining room, etc.). In winter, you can definitely feel that the air is a bit cooler and also moving. This applies especially to outlets with grilles. With diffuser valves, the air is deflected, so the effect will be smaller.

I have scheduled an appointment with a ventilation installer for next week. In the phone call, he already said that he prefers piping in concrete. Let's see what comes out of it and especially: costs &Statik...

We also chose the Zehnder Q350. Here, the tubes are laid on the raw subfloor, I believe at the height of the insulation. Then a panel is placed on top, followed by underfloor heating and then the screed.
Our floor is 15 cm thick, so we do not lose any of our room height.

We have the ventilation in the ceiling in the basement and ground floor. In the ground floor, this was even our wish because of cats and children.
In the upper floor, the ventilation is in the floor, except for the exhaust air in the bathroom, which is quite high on the wall.
