The bathroom is a joke, I hope!

The staircase was probably chosen that way because the house is too narrow, right?

You better have some nice floor plans shown to you.

1st question: What are you planning in the basement? I am a fan of basements, but you have some space problems upstairs while you have a free room in the basement plus separate technical and utility rooms. There you have 25m², which others sometimes fit into less than 10m². If the large room is not already planned, you should consider using it sensibly or using the basement to gain more living space upstairs.

Regarding the ground floor: - The kitchen is much too far from the garage and for me it would also be a bit too small. - The living room is very narrow and the bay window is pointless, as you cannot put anything there or use the space otherwise. - The storage room is too small - Much has already been said about the hallway

Regarding the upper floor: Actually, nothing fits here - The children's rooms are "messed up" by the bay windows - Depending on how the roof is arranged, there is hardly any space for furniture in the children's rooms - The bedroom is too small, the dressing room is pointless, and due to the sloping roof the sleeper at the outer wall will probably have to squeeze in a lot - The bathroom is a disaster not only in terms of furnishings but also in layout

Due to the staircase and the bay window you completely block off a lot of living space on the upper floor.

Wow, thank you very much for all the feedback so far.
There are already some good suggestions that make you think.

The floor plan is 99% from us. The builder only copied it and correctly drew in the wall thicknesses etc. (which is not so easy by hand on paper).

Site plan
Unfortunately, I don't have another site plan at hand right now, but north is to the right of the plan. The house is drawn on the plan as intended. The garage is on the north side. The terrace is supposed to be on the west side (garden), and the street runs along the south and east sides.

As the exterior dimensions for the house, we have planned approximately 10.50 m x 8.50 m.

Ground floor:
- The suggestion to swap the kitchen and living room as well as the storage room and WC so that the paths from the garage are shorter is good, I will try to put that on paper somehow.
- The kitchen also somehow feels too small to us. Since we like to cook and sometimes are in the kitchen together (or even three ), it needs to be bigger.
- Our comfortable but huge sofa poses a challenge. Fitting a 3.50 m x 2.00 m sofa nicely into the room while still having space to walk past it and to the TV wall is not easy if we don’t want to build too large.

Upper floor:
- We are also not satisfied at all with the upper floor. The bathroom as it is drawn is really a disaster.

Stairs:
- The room layout on both the ground floor and upper floor depends on the stairs. We like the half-winder staircase with a landing, but unfortunately, it also takes up a lot of space. It is a bit too long going into the house, which would reduce the space in the living/dining room, so we arranged the stairs as drawn. This makes the room division especially on the upper floor a bit more difficult for us.
- Do you have a suggestion for a staircase that might fit the house better?

Bay window:
- We included the bay window because we like the house style. Unfortunately, we haven’t received any elevations yet, but I attached a picture showing how we imagine the west view (only with garage instead of carport).
- Can you roughly say how much a bay window costs?

Thank you very much for your ideas/advice!

Always these bumps in the living/dining area.

If you extend the house completely in width, you will also have a reasonable storage and changing room.
If necessary, you can plan a bay window like in the picture in the front area. Make it nice with light and rotate the stairs by 90°. The only problem then is that you come out of the stairs into the ground floor. The landing (at half height) would then be at the front side. You have to rethink that a bit.

One should also be clear about this: knee wall heights from 180 to 200 cm ... The window opening should then be a maximum of 165 to 185 cm high, with the glass up to a maximum of 155 to 175 cm high. However, if roller shutters are to be added, the top edges will be reduced by about 20 cm or more. So, looking out the window while standing is then rather not possible.

Knee wall height max. 200 cm ... you also cannot place a shower on the exterior wall. Because a showerhead should have some distance from your head, and there should also be some space between the showerhead and the ceiling so that not every splash lands on the ceiling.

Why not a second full story?

If the basement does not have to fulfill an important "function," such as a hobby room, home office, etc., I personally tend to omit it and use the saved money to enlarge the house... A basic utility basement basically only offers storage space. I don't know if that is an option for you?!

Regards
