I would like to add the following to your posts:
We did not sign the contract with the staircase builder; rather, a company commissioned by the developer on his behalf did.
The scope of services was drafted as a functional specification.
It states:
Deliver the staircase and install it professionally according to technical standards, especially for the creation of load-bearing, structurally sound, safely walkable floors/escape routes.
Single-flight, half-turned, freestanding mortised wooden stringer staircase according to drawing 15 steps, approx. 18.67 / 26 cm, stair width approx. 97 cm, install the wooden stringer staircase between 2 walls, further specifications will follow.
Unfortunately, we did not receive a drawing of the staircase, only the floor plans of the levels.
According to our understanding, this is clearly a necessary staircase, as only this one is approved by the NRW State Building Code as an escape route.
But this surely refers to the staircase between the ground and upper floor, not the one to the attic.
What kind of house did you order? A house with an upper floor and attic as usable space?
