That is exactly the question. I have also heard that the wiring of two-way switches is not to be underestimated in terms of price! So basically a win-win... cheap and more comfortable. We will probably plan it that way then. We had actually never thought about it before.

We also have motion detectors in the hallway, because otherwise the light would be on all the time. The cat is not registered. Our motion detector also has a permanent off, automatic, and permanent on switch underneath.

Yes, there is much more out there than the standard switch/motion detector. You just have to think outside the box.

My husband took care of the electrical work in the house. When we moved into the new house, I was really shocked: what, we don’t have switches from every room to the hallway???? I hadn’t noticed that before. There are seven doors leading off the hallway!

There are only 2 switches in the hallway for the large ceiling light... one at each end. In between, small dim lights (at knee height) turn on via motion sensors as soon as it gets dark. I found that initially quite unusual. Now I can live with it. What’s really annoying are the clicking sounds with every switch operation. Best regards.

I have a motion detector in the ground floor hallway. It’s practical when your hands are full and you don’t have to specifically operate the light switch in the dark. I would always prefer it over the two-way switch. In the toilets, we also have motion detectors that are connected to an [UP Radio]. As soon as someone enters the room in the dark, the light and music turn on.
