Aligning the house on the plot: North-South / East-West, what should be considered?

Once that is clarified, try some options. But not like shown above, rather on graph paper. You can buy it or print it out. Work with scale-appropriate templates for 2 parking spaces or carport/garage. Take into account the regulations of the state building code and development plan. Take photos of your attempts (please also plan the other house with parking space at the same time) in order to compare them.

Helpful is a plan where at least one dimension is present. If there is no development plan, then one should have a plan of the surroundings. Is the property on a slope?

Are you the owner of the property?

Is a duplex possibly an option for the future?

so, I inquired again at the municipality today. The plot is divisible, for example, the neighboring plot was divided. Furthermore, in the development area there is pretty much an example for every deviation from the development plan regarding the number of floors, roof orientation, etc. There are single-family houses, semi-detached houses, and multi-family houses. The district office has generally adhered to the decisions of the municipality in the past.

The plot belongs to us, it is just under 1200 m2. approximately 35m wide and 35/30m long.

A semi-detached house would be an option but detached would be better.

The fundamental question, however, is whether one should start the floor plan design more with the north-south or east-west variant to have good lighting conditions.

That is a commendable, but not self-evident, understanding of the principle of subsidiarity ;-) With what "planning intent" was the development plan even drawn up: to collect fees for exemptions?

How likely is a second house on the property? The more likely, the more the second house must be taken into account. And maybe photovoltaic should also be considered. No matter how the land is divided, these will be plots 15 to 17 meters wide, so one must also consider the distance regulations that must be observed. And a bit more clarity about how the houses on the neighboring properties are situated, including the garages and terraces, would be helpful. What is symbolized at the lower right with the small special plot?

here is again a somewhat larger excerpt. The special plot of land at the bottom right has belonged to an energy company for decades as an option for the construction of a transformer station. The small plot opposite (west) is a playground. The second house is currently rather unlikely, but the offspring might possibly build there in the future. In the basement, we would like to have as much open space as possible and the main question right now is whether it is better to have a long north and south side or east-west. For photovoltaics, the former is of course more favorable, but are there other aspects that we do not see at the moment? We have also printed the whole thing to a scale of 1:100 and are now placing cardboard pieces, but the basic question of orientation has not yet been solved. The problem would presumably arise even if the option of a second house did not exist.
