Wood is planned, it should also visually fit in. But do you also think it will cost several thousand?

That depends on your requirements. The slat is drilled at the top to the ceiling and the stair wall, then vertical struts are screwed onto it, and done. Which hardwood and how it is stained... that will determine the cost. Were you the ones with the doors? Without any knowledge in the craft field? Doesn't matter, you can manage that too! Best regards in short

If necessary, just have a look for a solution at the hardware store. Maybe there is something affordable there.

Yes, we are the ones with the doors But while I am full of hope with the door frame, we really don't dare to mount a railing... Into which "ceiling" are we supposed to drill something there? We don't want a prison-feeling with bars from floor to ceiling, but a normal, half-high wooden railing and a handrail... Robson, the hardware store is back on the schedule next week. But do you think they have ready-made railings??

It is similar to ours. We have installed the struts horizontally and then attached the railing to them. On top, the handrail is also on the wall side. We really like the combination of stainless steel and wood. Best regards, Gustav

But we have the stairwell closed off; there is a wall panel there, so I don't need any railings. I admit, my handrails come from Lidl (online shop). They are super cheap, €25/1.50m (I have them in metal look, but there is also beech). I thought they were quite good. They feel high-quality and can also be extended. However, I haven't installed them yet; the house has not been handed over... For the basement, they are definitely enough, and I have now even reordered for my remaining stairs to the upper floor! This is not an advertisement, but my own impression. I have also received bad things from this shop before...
