It was just a suggestion to discuss the floor plan here. No one is saying you should build bigger :-). Regarding the actual question: We also use the roof of our carport as a cover for the front door :-) In your case, the garage would actually have to be extended. Also, to really get from the garage to the house under the cover without getting wet, there would have to be a door on the side.

Yeah, it wasn’t meant as an attack :D, thanks for the suggestion.

But what about having a roof protruding over the garage?
I can’t really imagine that.

Side door! Sure, thanks, hadn’t thought of that at all... now there are more possibilities :)

Honestly, I can hardly recognize anything: half views, a thumbnail representation of the ground floor, none at all of the upper floor. This is not a favorable starting point for criticism or suggestions with substance.

Hello!

Considering you don’t want a huge house, you have quite large external dimensions. And when I roughly look at the floor plan, the room usage doesn’t seem very well thought out, as already mentioned by Zaba12. You should really consider, if the floor plan isn’t fixed yet, to share it here briefly with the site plan. It can only get better and you don’t have to adopt anything...

For example, we also have no basement, but instead have a built-on 60 sqm masonry double garage directly attached to the house. Because of that, the utility room didn’t have to be huge and the space benefited the living area.

Depending on when your parents built, you shouldn’t necessarily orient yourselves to that. Even if it worked back then, there might be better possibilities for room usage today.

We have 167 sqm living space, without utility room 158 sqm, on 11m x 10m instead of almost 13m x 12m (can’t be seen exactly) like yours. But with much more spacious rooms.

Regards Michael

I can only agree with my predecessors: with a grade of "sufficient" I wouldn't have gotten anywhere in life... But I don't want to nitpick here. The kitchen is simply terrible. I wouldn't even be able to create storage space for 2 people next to the sink and stove, let alone have any workspace. A utility room in a square shape is saturated after 10 sqm, the slant lets energy drift straight out the window to the right according to the plan.

I would not design it as a prefabricated garage, but as a single unit, a single building structure. The architect should plan it that way. Alternatively, one could place a double garage next to the house; then you can also enter dry (side entrance door into the utility room); but it costs floor space and restricts the design -- keyword windows.
