Addendum to the 8 mm:

Is that the distance from the guide rail to the window sill surface or from the last slat to the outer edge?

Because where I think the distance downward is completely fine, I am a bit displeased with the rather large distance on the left side horizontally in your last picture... the "measuring" there was probably more "nonsense"...

And again about the story with "guiding up to the window sill": I see a much greater effort in cleaning... I am glad that this is not the case for us - otherwise there would probably already be a flower bed in the corner behind...

Yes, the picture was probably a bit misleading.

I don't quite understand the purpose of the short rail. But it can't be changed now. Of course, the roller shutter installer will try to talk it up because he measured the rails too short. What else is he supposed to say.

I quickly couldn't find anything about the 8mm gap. He probably made that up. That's nonsense. This guideline does not exist. The rail must rest on the windowsill with the plastic end piece.

In the instructions for measuring the side guide rails from an online provider, it clearly states: clear window dimension + 5 cm.

That's great that you wouldn't even notice because you don't close the blinds. I'm very happy for you. It's irrelevant in my case, but it makes me very happy. I definitely notice when my shutter is illuminated from the bottom to the full height. By the way, my two-year-old notices it too. Every morning when the sun shines. 2 hours before we would like to wake up. Since I have lived in 5 apartments/semi-detached houses where that was not the case, I do have some doubts about your "it's fine" statement. Our guide rail is also not 8mm away from the windowsill, but 2cm.

No technical defect, everything is neatly done. That some light comes in is just how it is. In my opinion, there will be no enforceable corrections because of that.

P.S. It looks similar for me and I also know it from work as "correct."
P.S. 2 It would even have been okay if the roller shutter slats had not been disengaged at all, but the entire roller shutter would end on the end pieces of the window sills. That is also permissible.

You may doubt as much as you like - and I will do everything to ensure that this remains the case in the future, because this is a free country.

Nevertheless,

- the question of where the "at least 8 mm" comes from (I have not found any indication either) is not resolved
- in my view, it is not certain that you will not still get light in with a really downward-sloping strip given the quite variable width of the lowest rail.

I have meanwhile found some articles and guidelines in which I find something that rather goes up to a maximum of 8mm. Of course, I am not familiar with the guidelines and also do not know for whom they apply. I have been googling through everything for ages and am only slowly getting smarter. There is one that is rather for BaWü and probably Austria. We are in Bavaria. There is, for example, also a Technical Guideline 121 Roller Shutters. There it says in the section "Distance to the window sill": Unless otherwise agreed, this distance up to a measure of 8 mm is proper and does not justify a complaint." But of course, no idea whether that applies to us. Conveniently, the gentleman from the window company left out a maximum value (if there really is one for us). I also don’t think it would solve the problem 100%, but I am relatively sure that it would at least not hurt. If then this semi-transparent finishing thing (like with all our neighbors) were anthracite, then the world (or at least the bedroom) might already look a bit better or, uh, darker. so you also don’t know a maximum value for the distance between the guide rail and window sheet?
