Planning the terrace roofing. Is there light entering the rooms?

Hello,

Extending the roof across the entire width of the terrace will keep the rooms underneath quite dark.

There are nice alternatives that can be adapted to the style of the bungalow; you can find such an example attached. VSG is embedded on top, with a sailcloth attached on the side. If you like, you can also shade the VSG with a sailcloth; this has the advantage that it stays bright.

In your design, a half extension is also conceivable; however, over the short side, roughly up to the wall panel between the parents and child's rooms.

Rhenish greetings

Hello, thank you for the previous answers. The roofing is necessary because I am a very, very fair-skinned person. I absolutely need shade when the sun is shining and must not expose myself to the blazing sun for too long (even when protected). So I need "real" shade. The roofing was an obvious choice for a bungalow, especially since most floor plans already provide for a (small) roofing anyway.

However, the size is not only impressive but also associated with concerns. In the bedroom, "little" light wouldn't be so bad. But in the children's room, it would be a "no go".

I suspect that by "short side" the area directly in front of the living room is meant. For reasons of noise shielding from the highway / country road (audible with east wind), we want to "switch off" there. Also, we like a somewhat sheltered seating area. Are there possibilities to calculate the light incidence based on the data?

Are we talking about an angled bungalow with a hipped roof here? How is towing supposed to work over two roofs? It doesn't work.
Even if it would work in theory, you couldn't step out from under the canopy...
Attaching a roof at a different angle looks pretty bad.

In general, with a hipped roof/angled house, the roof is taken separately, so in your example as a rectangle.
(that is: shape of the house angled, shape of the roof rectangular) That would of course swallow less light.
Almost all nationwide home builders have this version for their bungalows, not over the whole side, but at least over 2-3 meters wide, so not enough for a dining area.

I would also go toward the building expert's version.

Now something completely different. The TV wall in your bedroom restricts you in the closet area. The width doesn't even allow you to take a step back to explore the entirety of a closet meter. An alternative would be a TV wall mount without a wall or a small wall strip of about one meter in the middle.

The idea with the wall stripe is a funny one. I have to think about it (incompetent in imagination).

Such a large canopy does not require an additional building permit?

No idea, to be honest. But by now it's somewhat clear that the roofing is getting smaller. The light incidence thing is honestly a bit creepy to me. The "roof overhang" is indeed just the continuation of the roof, so there shouldn't be a building permit required for that, or am I wrong? Whatever, it's the architect's business in the construction company anyway.
