I don't see that much space in the living room for family gatherings. It will be quite cramped at the dining table, especially since a desk is drawn on the right. Just upload a plan of the property here, then one can better assess the location of the windows and the living room. As it is now, it will be very dark, so that during the winter one will certainly need light in the living room during the day.

Oops, there is no basement... so I'll get the table from the utility room, where it also takes up valuable storage space

They don’t have to. However: if you open them classically inward, I agree, then they should also be drawn inward.

In Egypt always, I've been told. I believe in Sweden too. In the past, this was often done that way. Regularly opening patio doors inward was only "introduced" when lift-and-slide balcony doors came along – it would probably have been too complicated to make the opening outward when the lever is inside.
