Close the gap to the wall with a cover on the dishwasher

We are talking about 8cm. Nothing is hanging. It does not protrude 5cm over the cabinets either. The 8cm is only slightly more than with a kitchen island, where the countertop also "hangs" everywhere without being fixed.

However, the dishwasher does not form a load-bearing unit. Besides, you need a stop for the panel anyway. What is your problem?

I don’t have one. But the panel rests on the dishwasher, so it does bear weight.

I was just answering the OP’s question – incidentally, the only one with a complete proposal for fastening the dishwasher and the panel. Don’t put me down now because of a "hanging" panel.

And then on your squared timber. That's all there is to it.

And it should not rest solely on it. Because then the countertop has no fastening when the machine is pulled out for repair purposes. A kitchen installer will never complete it without fastening the countertop. If it is not a niche, a panel belongs at the end of the row; in the niche, support comes from the cladding and sensibly a strip that runs up to the back wall.

As a DIY builder, I would screw two to three metal brackets to the wall, cut the panel to size, and click it on with magnets.
