You don’t have to sit outside down there. Put a bedroom in the basement under the living room and keep the ground level up to the property boundary without adding soil. Then you only have to fill half the property, gain a room, and the slope would then be the neighbor’s problem if they want to add soil from their current level because they want to fully bury their basement?

Attach a wooden deck to the top of the living room so you are not sitting below the neighbors either.

Can you make a sketch? It’s still not quite clear to me where you want to put the bedroom window or what will be under the wooden deck.

jpg or pdf better? Unfortunately, the scan did not work optimally, I hope this is enough. But the risk of having to remove after x pages makes the whole thing seem rather unrealistic.

Maybe just a larger light well so that the room in the basement at least gets decent light and pile up the rest? The light well would then be half the width of the house, on the other half there is a path to the garden and the terrace would then be moved away from the house. And with the basement costs, you simultaneously gain a (somewhat attractive) living space.

That's how it is. However, the OP probably doesn't like it when his way of thinking is supported.

I'm not talking about your plot, nor total budget.

I don't think it's right that you disparagingly label someone who has full understanding of your situation. Here in the forum, I am one of those who understands all saving measures and has also built frugally herself.
And I defend that daily against those who don't show up in your thread at all.
Maybe you shouldn't jump to conclusions about me, but of course also be honest about your building project. After all, we are reading here. Yes, it simply won't be a villa, nor a house with a lot of frills where there is anything to cut back on so that a basement can be built or paid for.

I wouldn't overestimate it now. I think the nerves are already raw even before the start of the construction. It's anything but a relaxed build. Yep. If that were your house and you could only build 3 floors, what would you do? I think I would consider moving the children into the living basement and leaving the attic unfinished.

You're asking the wrong person - I'm a basement hater

However, the plot is so expensive that you have to make use of every corner. But no... I would probably prefer the livable attic variant. Theoretically, you could still have the south-facing window option there, which could create some spaciousness if you were to take advantage of this possibility.

You don't have a finished basement here. Even if you had the money for conversion, you don't have space on the property for the slope/light well. A finished basement doesn't just come from installing the electrics flush, but you are dependent on certain shapes. And since I regularly deal with burnt-out houses and their victims, I personally do not overlook that.
