Well, if you’re talking about a pool, I would now assume at most something like an inflatable jacuzzi. You can just put that on the terrace, if it ever even comes. The position of the terrace door would also be interesting; I don’t have it at hand right now. In general, the plan isn’t meant to be permanent—especially with a garden of manageable size, you can redesign it every few years. I understand the thing with the door in the fence—if the neighbor is annoying, that’s no good. What about playgrounds / outdoor pools nearby? I always preferred those over my own garden solution; I only had a larger paddling pool. But only one that I could drain after a few days, since I never wanted to deal with filters and such. A season ticket is definitely cheaper than anything semi-serious regarding a pool.
You are completely right. Currently, the garden is more designed for the kids. Various toys will of course still follow.
There is a playground quite close since it’s a new development area. However, as parents it’s naturally more comfortable to also just sit cozily on the terrace, drink coffee, and watch the kids play or splash in the own garden.
Every time having to prepare all the stuff like diapers, tons of snacks for the little ones, sandals, etc., catch the kids, put them in the car, drive to the pool, pay entrance fees, etc., can sometimes be more complicated than just putting the kids in a small pool in the garden.
In recent years, unfortunately, we always had to kind of "escape" to pools or playgrounds because we simply didn’t have a child-friendly garden. We now wanted to make up for that a bit. Whether it will actually be a pool with filter etc. later on remains to be seen.
