We have the handover on Thursday and are now going through all the rooms in advance.

What exactly should be paid attention to?

What must be accepted, for example, regarding the tile installation? Some are partially uneven, some stainless steel strips are visibly annealed at the cut edge.

Do you have any tips for us?

To rip out the tiles again, they would have to be very crooked in a prominent spot. For minor issues, there's usually a discount. What was personally important to me was that all doors and windows close and open smoothly. Also, the room doors should stand and not close by themselves (unfortunately, our door installer didn’t quite manage that 100%). However, he readjusted all of them again together with us. Check all glass parts to see if they are undamaged. We actually had to have one replaced. The technology has to work – of course. Electrical systems must function. Test all taps, showers, and toilets in the wet rooms. Check wooden parts for scratches. Otherwise, I wouldn’t overestimate the appointment. You still have 5 years of warranty.

I can only advise to test everything that can already be tested now. Every window, every function, every door. All electrical installations including fuse box labeling, especially whether the high-voltage connections are correctly labeled (yes, in our case, for example, they were not!). As for the tiles, well, no one is going to tear those out anymore. Some things will only become apparent after moving in. All faucets and drains including hot water at all taps and outlets. Heating. Whether there are smoke detectors everywhere and whether they are active. Exterior blinds, of course. Just go through everything and really test it all.

The house handover had to be postponed from Thursday to next Tuesday because the [sanitär] won't be finished on time. But it still fits into our schedule.

Yesterday, while checking with the spirit level, I unfortunately noticed that the screed in some rooms doesn't fit. Hopefully, this will be fixed this week.

On Friday, the 120sqm floor including baseboards will be delivered (almost 1 ton of material - ufff). On the 15th, a larger furniture delivery from the [gelben Riesen] and kitchen installation on May 28th and 29th. The kitchen appliances are all ordered as well.

Let's see if the schedule can still be maintained. The move is planned for the Pentecost weekend.

And? Account already empty or are you still buying yourself a rubber duck for the bathtub?

We have managed the finances so well that there’s even room for an 85-inch TV for dad – and mom gets her KitchenAid.

Seriously: budget-wise we are within limits, as we planned a bigger buffer for many things that then didn't turn out to be that expensive – and that even though we had to pay almost 15k extra for the foundations. Then there would even be more left over.
