Hm, I find that hard to believe. My experience is rather that elected popular idiots try their hand at disciplines they don’t understand. For example, marketing a development area with terraced houses to private builders without being aware of the consequences. Wherever the motivation for this came from. Maybe they wanted to keep the contracts very exclusive within the community instead of handing over the entire business to a large developer.

Well intended is unfortunately not always well executed.

The motivation is simple to understand, I believe I already explained it in this thread: they actually understand quite well what the people want. And the people are competitive believers and individualistic, i.e. they initially see a "chance" in "deregulated" each individually in their building plot compartment - "MY property - MY non-communication - beyond the boundary the flood" to try their "luck." Because what does the builder have in mind? - their dreams!
These are pictures of model houses with which they have charged themselves. From the expensive building land, they would prefer only the floor area, all around only boundary distance, more of it only on the south side. Huge windows so that not more than this fence distance is needed for light - even better would be if this area were not needed at all, and the light was simply brought by the Zalando man in bottles. The builder dreams least of a construction site logistics; you can see that in the discussions about financing here: the plot and base price of the house plus surcharges for deeper windows, walk-in shower, and clinker bricks are listed. They would prefer to "rent the excavator just for a test drive," grudgingly postpone the carport construction to a second phase due to notary fees and property taxes; the utility provider should actually gift the construction power, as that would also be advertising for them.
One would only spoil relations with such potential voters by raising a finger and explaining that they should let themselves be "paternalized" by the majority of their row neighbors in a concerted action to build. At some point, the Zlatko-ization of the voters affects political quality. Stupidity works like communicating vessels: a generation of L-block builders "reflects" their attitude sooner or later also on municipalities, which then think nothing of a surface-level development.
That progress is slow and still requires a classic crane due to the lack of a heavy-duty drone - who’s to blame for that?
Humor is when you build anyway

He was only elected two years ago for eight years as an independent candidate – currently, no one is interested in a "coup."

And the local rag is a better community paper – there is no question of critical journalism. Could it be because a freelance journalist of the rag also manages the community's social media channels?

Not here either, they are pure press release compilations from all clubs, supplemented with little anecdotes from dialect regulars' tables, plus advertorials from the retail association, and the publisher chats double-sided with the brewery manager about the stone louse. Layout replaces editorial - if they run a photo of the board election of the water pistol shooting club a second time in the next issue, they won’t even notice. But every grumbler (m/f/d) gets a voice.

Completely different topic: we would like to have a socket and an HDMI outlet installed on the concrete ceiling on the ground floor as a possible preparation for a projector. Our general contractor just embedded an empty conduit for this purpose. The question now is about the exact position?

I didn’t want to sit directly under the projector because of the noise. What do you think?
