I find fixed elements really practical, for decoration or in the kitchen, when you put something down like kitchen herbs or so. And especially in the kitchen you want to air out sometimes. I would have done it the same way.

I also have the faucet (quite at the edge) in front of the window and can't open it completely. But the countertop is so deep anyway that I really have to fish my way out to get to the window. Since there is still a window and a balcony door, I will probably only open the window rarely - I can ventilate in other ways. That’s why I also don’t have a "mobile" faucet.
Nevertheless, I didn't dare to have the faucet really centered in front of the window - that would have been an option with the arrangement of the kitchen elements. It would have been more comfortable; then I would have had proper counter space on both sides of the stove.

Haha, true, but you also have to address the important topics in life sometimes.

I consider this fixed glazing base rather practical because you don't have to clear away the herb pots placed inside to open the window. A hand shower in the sink is also practical beyond the aspect of being able to open the window.
