I have wrestled with myself for a long time about whether and how to write this and hope I’m not doing anything wrong.

Given the aggressive behavior of your middle house neighbor including his wife and apparently the companies commissioned as well, please take good care of yourself and your family and possibly arrange for security precautions. To me, their behavior sounds as if they could snap. So far, they seem to be acting with an extraordinary level of aggression and reinforcing each other in the belief that they are right. Their cognitive abilities also seem to be far underdeveloped.

Maybe I’m just seeing ghosts (and as a woman I might be too afraid of aggressors, that could be), but with such aggressive people you just never know when they feel cornered and lash out wildly without regard for the consequences.

Fortunately, the typical gap between buildings is rarely as large as "seven meters," and the problem here was not the underpinning itself, but that the middle house owner considers it unnecessary. In itself, building gaps with the motto "the engineer never says it's too difficult" are quite manageable. Nevertheless, I stick to my basic position that, firstly, uncoordinated semi-detached and row house construction itself, and secondly, with the baby of the family in the middle, require a masochistic attitude, and the smart mayor would be better off awarding each block in one piece to a developer (who can also very well be a three-family GbR).

Okay, this case exists anyway, how is this supposed to be accomplished now? The mineral concrete will always crumble away.

How should the construction company proceed with the undertaking? I have never seen it, let alone read about it. Or does nothing happen when testing the compacted material?

It’s best if you google DIN 4123 – everything is well described there.

The topic is simple: if it is executed properly, then it is an everyday matter – however, with the neighboring crew, we never had the feeling that they could have simply been allowed to do it. And if they had nothing to hide, it wouldn’t have been a problem to let our soil expert accompany them.

I hope you have two cameras recording your terrace and your driveway, with a small notice sign. At the latest when the colleague starts digging again or his potential illegal worker, these could certainly be useful hints for the relevant authorities...

Good luck, at least going forward, and the hope that he gives up and a new opportunity arises. As exhausting and draining as this undertaking has been for you, it has been very interesting and instructive for many readers so far.
