When planning LAN, also plan a power outlet for the access point nearby (or use PoE, but the access points are then considerably more expensive and the router must also support it).
PoE access points are not much more expensive and, since they do not require power outlets, are much easier to mount on the ceiling or high on the wall. The router does not need to support PoE—or at least none that I know of do—but instead a PoE injector is used, or for multiple devices a switch that supports PoE.
