As already discussed in detail: having the 35k is not a problem. It would just have meant about €200 monthly installments extra or the entire Baukindergeld for the basement. And we didn't want that. What do you think, will my children say in 20 years: "Wow... do you still remember our great basement?" or rather: "The wonderful vacation at the North Sea in summer 2024 was really a nice family time. That's when I learned to ride a bike."

I find the North Sea very beautiful! But I absolutely cannot remember the age when I learned to ride a bike... And I am only 28 or almost 29 years old. But everyone should build however they want. You will still nicely spend the 35k elsewhere.
