So... away from sheet metal and towards real problems.

I ran into my middle house neighbor this morning since he had an on-site appointment. He will probably start in two weeks and by the way: "we will get you."

However, he apparently did not realize that we also have a say in this. And that his structural engineer might also need to get our civil engineering plans was also unknown to him - this will be interesting.

Next week I will seek legal advice to clarify which measures we have to tolerate and which we do not - but above all, which security measures are due to us and our house.

This fact has already been known to many here since this "everyone can do whatever they want" row house thing first showed up here.

What do you have in mind? You will have a hard time forbidding him to build the basement.

That is not my goal at all. If I felt that we were being involved in the planning of the underpinning and that we could then have it checked by our general contractor, everything would be fine. But casually throwing that at me today during a chance meeting is not the way to do things.

I will now have it examined whether we, for example, have the right to have an expert’s survey of our house carried out at his expense or something similar.

He just doesn’t understand that this is already a serious intervention on our property and house. I had given him every opportunity to resolve the matter reasonably, for example when I suggested a deeper foundation to his later basement depth before our construction started – no response.

My priority now is to protect my building.

So, I just read that as "I want to be funny and appear cool and connected to you" - a phrase - and immediately took it on the spot as the basis for a casual conversation. How differently we tick ops:
