My brother-in-law has laid floors several times. He will help me out so that one lays and the other cuts. That’s basically the plan.

I had also obtained quotes for installation, with offers ranging between 32-34 hours, complete and including skirting boards. Don't overestimate yourselves and don't plan too tightly.

Especially the hallway with stairs and 4-5 rooms takes up an incredible amount of time. Just figuring out where to start here took us almost 2 hours.

Forget the crap with a jigsaw or circular saw! Get yourself a laminate or vinyl cutter at any random hardware store. It’s a movement similar to a paper cutter. It’s fast and doesn’t create any mess like dust, etc. You can continue working on the floor without having to get up. You don’t have to turn anything on or off. Pure time saver. Costs about €30 on sale.

The only disadvantage is that the thing can't do corners. Miter saw for the baseboards, jigsaw or circular saw for the last plank in the room and for corners. Laminated cutter was there too, but never used because jigsaw and miter/circular saw had to be kept anyway and the cut from the miter/circular saw was much cleaner than from the laminate cutter. It often damaged the tongue and/or groove for me.

I once tried something like that on laminate, it was somehow the complete rubbish, but it could also have been due to the device.

Full vinyl only goes up to ~6 mm with the cutters anyway, but you can also easily score and snap it without any stress.

Everyone always talks about pain.... after 2 days it hurts, after 4 you get used to it, and after 6 you’re done with it. What definitely helps is a knee pad, whether sewn into the pants or to lay on.
