We didn’t make a science out of it. We partly used our lamps from the old apartment and bought the others sometime after moving in. Cables simply wherever you usually have them. You end up rearranging furniture or buying different pieces anyway. Of course, we considered workspaces. But otherwise, we just ran cables where they made sense. In all rooms, there are also wall lights for a dimmer evening lighting. We were really pragmatic here too, or probably didn’t have high demands. As long as I can see enough after turning on the lamp, I did everything right.

Regarding the wall cabinet: Tell the drywall installer to put 2 layers of OSB there and then drywall on top, a washbasin has quite a bit of weight. Then you can simply use proper wood screws without pre-drilling.

If you already have a base cabinet in mind and know which wall it should go on, do it like we did: inform the bathroom installer or drywall builder and give them the installation drawing and desired height of the top edge. Then they should reinforce the pre-wall accordingly – for example, with us the drywall was reinforced with OSB.

Oh, and maybe buy the base cabinet already - don’t want it to fall victim to a model change.

What kind of profession are you exactly?

*framing* !!!

I basically consider that a very reasonable attitude – although I drink my sugar with milk and coffee and the structural engineer may well still provide a bit of ceiling around the empty conduits if he wants.
I belong in a way to the "anti-aircraft helper generation" that associates a new building with the motto "never again extension cords!"
