Haha, exactly. Try to apply eyeliner in such dim light! I want to see the result!

What I like is the open discussion and the thoughts about detailed solutions. Also that you plan a lot yourself despite having the budget. I know some builders who are blessed with significantly more budget than we are and who just "dump" everything on the architect and his planners and let them do it.

I would have included an additional 100 sqm workshop with storage for tools (given the budget). Even if I might have most of the work done by external craftsmen, I simply like good, suitable and extensive tools.

You can also see the different lifestyles very well in the bathrooms. For me, there was no way around having a shower in the guest WC. With 5 people who have to get ready at the same time in the morning, it simply needs that -> Ergo, that thing also has to have a window.

One more detail about shoes: We all like to walk barefoot, maybe you do too. But that’s not much fun on the cold and possibly wet roof terrace. If all shoes are stored in the basement, you don’t walk down there all the time. Maybe you’ll find an elegant way to build a hidden shoe storage near the terrace doors. It already annoys me when I have to walk all the way through the house to get the garden shoes when I want something from the herb bed at the terrace. And that’s with 100 sqm of built floor area.

This is really something completely different. Congratulations on the brainpower you invested; apparently, you are quite knowledgeable about some things and know exactly what you want. I find that great, even if the saw doesn’t jam, not letting everything be planned just because you could.

I know you were asked several times about the bathrooms; I have serious reservations when I see that on the ground floor. Why would anyone voluntarily not put a window in there? Somehow it doesn’t match the super cool glass surfaces of the rest of the building... also the utility room upstairs without a window, why would you do that... no one can look in there, but daylight is irreplaceable, isn’t it??

Apart from the fact that, as a man (a woman is human too), I would hold back from using your toilets if I had the chance to see this impressive building (2700m³ enclosed space). Everyone makes some noise now and then, and then the friends sit at the huge table in the living area and hear you when you “make music,” man, I would sink through your lift in the floor.
I have no idea why you let yourselves be tempted into that. Especially a woman wants a bright bathroom, to look at herself in the mirror; no lighting technology can imitate that as well, right?

I think some have really brought some good ideas and food for thought. If I were you, I would seriously reconsider and let everything sink in before building it that way.

Domski Regardless of how high the budget is, all builders have the same problem "The crystal ball of the construction partners only shows fog" How are architects and co supposed to know what is important and pleasing to the builders. Whether it is the question of saltwater pool yes/no or which exterior color for the Flair113, only the builders can decide. Where information is missing, work is done based on "I thought".

How do you actually do the glazing in the bathroom area? Can't you see inside from outside there?

Best regards

If after the sauna session you don’t want to go upstairs to shower, you can also do it in the basement in the guest room.

Also, my wife doesn’t care about daylight in the toilets. Today there are mirrors with daylight lamps. I think it’s something like the discussion about controlled residential ventilation versus manual ventilation. They are toilets, not bathrooms. And in case of emergency, there is permanent makeup lol

There will be a spot for garden shoes in the living room next to the terrace door. It will be integrated into the furniture. I also walk barefoot or in socks. My wife always wears slippers. We have thought about that.

The utility room on the upper floor would be visible (even if somewhat distant). You never get sunlight there. We rather need wall space for placing things than an unused window (which would also be more expensive). It was in the first drafts and we removed it. The toilet doors will be soundproof. If you then still hear something despite 10 meters or more distance, guests, and maybe music, or have a problem with it, you will have a problem in almost all houses. It’s more a matter of mindset. Maybe we have to explicitly inform guests about the soundproof doors.

and Simply designing and having it built was never an option for me. If you want "your" house you have to be heavily involved. I also want to know how everything works and understand why and how something has to be executed. I will certainly be on the construction site every day.
