In the list of the super-rich, there are more Americans than Saudis at YouTube there is a nice video of a timeline from 1980 until today, with the order of the super-rich in 1980 there were almost only Americans, in early 2000 only a handful, but a few Saudis, now again only Americans.

What is the poet trying to tell me with that?

Understatement is important to me (after all, you don't treat yourself to much else). What I appreciate about the (W124) E420 is that it is not "recognizable" like the E500, but cannot be distinguished from the E220 in the parking lot.

The richest people in the world are not on any list ;-)

But I'm afraid we are drifting a bit away from the actual topic.

Am I now a spoilsport if I ask how it comes that many talk about efficient houses but at the same time "promote" cars that are true efficiency sins? Sure, those are great cars. But actually, you shouldn't be driving something like that today, right? It's completely neutral, honestly. But maybe also not a topic for this thread, as it's completely off-topic.

Fortunately, you are still allowed to drive such cars. W124 even with [H-Kennzeichen]. Most of the "big" cars are driven little and cause less emissions than the "bread and butter cars" (in absolute terms). Nevertheless, you pay much more taxes and thus subsidize the electric cars, hybrids... What is more efficient? A car with 150HP that consumes 6 liters or a 300HP car that needs 8 liters? A new car is always the worst choice. Interestingly, with electric cars, power is currently very important. They don’t consume any fuel... My everyday car mostly runs electrically. And when more is demanded, the V8 BiTurbo awakens :)

I have a 160 hp car. I can drive it under 6 liters. But if I push it, it easily consumes three times that at almost 230 km/h. A 300 hp car only consumes 8 liters if I drive it in a range where 300 hp doesn’t benefit me at all.
