That is exactly the difference for me between a house that Uncle H. and Aunt Hilda build for themselves and a house that still has a meaningful structure for everyone even after 100 years. The word "in need of renovation" immediately comes to my mind.

And no, I do not find the "after me, the flood" attitude desirable at all, especially when it comes to building a house. A lot of resources are wasted. It would be appropriate and environmentally conscious if it lasts more than one generation.

How do you want to know what kind of structure everyone will need in 100 years? Maybe the heirs/buyers won’t have children either? The property has to be renovated anyway. And every generation has different ideas about their living space. It is also not an "after me, the flood" attitude. Something valuable (house + land) will be left behind. The house could be converted or extended. Whether the next generation tears down the house and thus wastes resources does not depend on the builder.

As technology advances, there is something to that. Still, I don’t build my house exclusively for myself, but so that someone else could also use it. Especially when I go above 160m². In my generation, that’s usually parents + two kids.

I do think there’s a big chunk of selfishness involved. It’s not a drama, but my basic attitude is somehow different. A house that appeals to only 1% of families is, in my opinion, also of less social value than one in which 80% can live very well.

In the end, it’s probably nonsense anyway, because in 50 years you might need your own wind power plant and all houses with pitched roofs are too steep for that or something similar.

"Wow, cool cabin!!" my 14-year-old said yesterday. When I pointed out that no children's room was planned, he said that for HIM, the pool would be enough in summer and in winter he would make himself comfortable in the pool pavilion, because then HE WOULD FINALLY have his peace and quiet! that's one way to do it.

Back to the topic, cool cabin! Can you recommend an HLS planner?

I don’t see a drama here either. Your attitude is legitimate and understandable. One just must not equate individuality with selfishness. You focus very much on families. This probably also represents the largest group. However, there are also other buyer groups (singles, couples without children, older couples whose children are grown...). They appreciate a house that is better tailored to their needs. Personally, I would rather see it as a waste of resources to build rooms that I will not need in my lifetime. Both from an environmental aspect and monetarily.

Also an option or just into the guest room. Regarding HVAC, I have very good experience with the Maurer Group from Schamberg. You are heading towards Lake Constance, right?
