As planned, today the second and final layer of cast asphalt was started.
In the picture, you can also see the excess screed. The asphalt was still at 100°C at that time. In the lower right, you can see that there is sometimes trash lying around on our construction site as well. I am still standing on the first layer from yesterday.
Of course, we always have some delays, coordination issues, etc. The situation has been quite dynamic since yesterday. The Swiss window manufacturer got in touch saying they see a chance to cross the border next week and install the glass. The problem is that the floor must be ground beforehand. There are a few tight spots that can only be properly worked on from the outside. However, the company is from Austria and currently cannot give any appointment commitments.
Therefore, today there was an on-site meeting plus video conferences... Result: - The door tolerance is sufficient to get over the unground floor - This morning, the German specialist company for glass transport (which equipment is needed, like crane with assembly tip, suction lifter, handheld devices...) was on site - The scaffolding must be mostly dismantled - Pass permits for the Swiss were issued etc. The current plan is for a partial installation. That means all glasses on the upper floor and basement. On the ground floor, only three panes are to be installed. And the whole thing should start from next Monday. I am still somewhat skeptical about that.
As soon as the cast asphalt is finished tomorrow, work must begin on smoothing the drywall walls and the painting. I will do most of it myself again. I can also start with the PU joints then. The painting must be completed before the installation of the acoustic ceiling begins. We have to protect the ceiling while the floor is being ground.
There was also a phone conference today with the building authority regarding one wall section. We will certainly find a solution together there as well.
It remains exciting.
