I used the holidays a bit to finally do the PU/hybrid joints on the garage ceiling. They have no function. I just didn’t like the look of the open joints. If you ever plan something like this, definitely get a battery-powered press. First, otherwise your hand will die, and second, the cartridges contain too little material. Therefore, use the 600ml packs (sausages) right away.
Since the ceiling has V-shaped joints, no backing material is needed or could be wedged in. Therefore, the joints were glued on the sides and dusted with a brush. The material I used adheres extremely well and only requires treating the joint with primer in exceptional cases. One reason why I chose this compound. On my substrates, no adhesion promoter was needed anywhere.
Then fill nicely. It must be sufficient so that the entire channel is filled when smoothing. The compound also sticks extremely well to the hands. Luckily, I have enough disposable gloves (bought well before the crisis ).
Especially when smoothing, it nicely squirts over the hands (if you used too much). Processing is not comparable to silicone. Soapy water also doesn’t work since the compound is moisture-curing...
At the end, then remove the tape and enjoy it.
Over the days, I processed 15 kg of PU/hybrid compound into the ceiling joints.
This was my test area. In the living room, we have partially vertical joints. These will be filled later with the same compound in concrete gray. Now I at least know what doesn’t work or what works.
