First of all, thank you. Life in the house is excellent. We enjoy it and it feels like a vacation.
Not much has changed.
1.
- There were a few minor changes in the garden.
- For the pool, I would integrate an option to circulate water only through the gutter or the pool itself. Saves energy. I don’t see the point in retrofitting it now.
- We have 10 kWp photovoltaic. That was the limit back then. Today, I would install more. Another system with 5-6 kWp doesn’t make much sense in terms of installation effort.

2. We would build the toilets exactly the same way again. None of the concerns raised here have ever been mentioned by any of our guests...

3.
We also looked at Basalte. We installed Gira G1 and a 19" Gira panel which has since been replaced by one from PeaKNX.
We barely use the panels as most things run through automations. The rest is controlled either by voice command or via mobile device. This is mainly for guests or the cleaning staff.

4.
While the APs could be installed concealed, the wood with insulation would strongly shield the 5 GHz network, making it not practical. For the 2.4 GHz network, it’s less problematic. But since there are anyway supply and exhaust air vents, presence detectors, smoke detectors… I would advise against it. Better to use in-wall APs or embed Flex-HD in the ceiling. Only a small part sticks out.

We have a grill from Flammkraft. We are super satisfied with it. It will serve us well for many more years.

If you set it up correctly, neighboring properties are hidden. You don’t have to give your child admin access…
We also have houses on the hill above that can partially look at the pool. We don’t care at all.
We also had the case where someone with camouflage and a telephoto lens was on the other side of the hill. Too bad for him that we had visitors and noticed it. The guests had their little daughters with them.

It wasn’t directed at you. I just sometimes find it surprising that nowadays you seem to be considered paranoid if you claim the right not to be filmed 24/7 on your own small 612m² property and don’t even know what happens to the footage. With my neighbor, I’m pretty sure the cameras go to a NAS and the recordings aren’t gone after a few days because the ring buffer in the camera starts from the beginning. If the footage then also goes to the cloud...

That's how I know it from friends who record surveillance videos. It is stored for a long time.
And blacked-out areas often simply do not exist. Images that once went to the police because of a break-in attempt were blacked out afterwards.

What I am wondering now is how much data such a camera really generates per day nowadays after compression and motion detection. Images without movement in the frame can be quickly and automatically deleted again, so that the "interesting" scenes with neighbors in the frame remain.
