There are 6 x 24-port patch panels. Probably not completely full.
About 10 cables will be added.
They are actually only network cables, so nothing misused for KNX.
The house and property are not that big that we would reach 100 meters of cable length.
About 60 meters should be the maximum. The distance to the office is significantly shorter, so 10 Gbits is no problem.
The cables were already labeled quite well by the electrician by hand. There were only a few cables I had to check...
Now I have the right printer. The installation cables are labeled with position/function and the patch panel + port. Router and switch are programmed as far as possible. Patch cables are also labeled. So pretty meticulous
I don’t want to have to search later.
Since it is not a dynamic environment I can basically define everything fixed.
I’ll bring the cabinet next week. It will then be located directly next to the traverse in the middle of the room.
That way I can get to it from all sides. If I don’t like it, it will go (sideways) underneath. It has enough entry options (Stengel cabinet).
It is also one with double depth. With my equipment, I have no problem with that (thermally and with counter-rotating fans...)
There is still plenty of space inside.
The floor will stay as is. It might still be coated. But if it is raw, there are fewer discussions about area for property tax...
Yes, at the back on the wall is the Unitymedia connection (now Vodafone). Since I don’t need the telephone comfort option, there was the stupid (new) Vodafone Station. But it was planned anyway to replace it no matter what they provide.
The station is in the locked outdoor box at the back right. It now provides WiFi during the construction phase for workers and me. Cell phone reception is not good on the property and not present in the building.
However, I already have the power upload and native DualStack.
Telekom connection is also there (max. 12mbit down / 2.5mbit up ).
And an empty conduit just in case fiber optic comes.
Thanks for the compliments. I’m technically inclined and therefore quite competent for a layman. But connecting modules is not that difficult. You just have to do it thoughtfully.
Some part has to be done by the electrician anyway, I do the connections at the patch panels.
All cables will be tested and documented after connection.
My TC4400 with the latest firmware (.42) was delivered in 30 min.
In the next few days, I will play around with it. I will only provision it once my server cabinet is fully installed.
