An interesting discussion.
But how was it again? The Trojans would have been better off knowing the saying "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts" beforehand.
I now see the Baukindergeld once again as a half-baked nonsense from the CSU. They desperately wanted to distribute election gifts to "their clientele." The SPD was against it from the start but agreed to it in some compromise package. Now the money isn’t enough, and the Baukindergeld is being rendered absurd by unrealistic additions. And by the way, the SPD is being blamed for it all.
Somewhere, even for me, the €12,000 Baukindergeld is a luxury problem that doesn’t really make me poorer or richer. If I’m not mistaken, that’s not even the income tax I pay every (!) year. And subsidies always hit the wrong people anyway, yes, exactly. The money would probably have been better invested elsewhere (for society as a whole).
But since it was announced with great fanfare, I would simply have been happy to belong to the "wrong" people for once.
And now? The disappointment remains. Due to my income and asset situation, I can now better afford neoliberalism. Although I firmly decided never to forget to look back. What was the deal? Security, rule of law, and the chance for social advancement in exchange for taxes. For the taxes paid, I expect no gratitude but also no reproaches that I have used the opportunities granted to me. Even when an occasional bonus is given.
The "treating people like fools" stinks! If I promise my child a chocolate for tidying their room and then say: "Be glad you even have your own room to tidy; other children don’t even have their own room!", that just doesn’t work. And then sayings like: "What do you want the chocolate for? You’re doing well enough anyway." Thanks. Whoever can’t form a judgment should at least form a prejudice, right?
