For what reason should the SPD say, yes we think it's great, but only if it's January 1, 2018 instead of July 1, 2017?

They have swallowed the bitter pill of Baukindergeld, for which they are allowed to push through other things.

I still see it as clear voter deception by CDU/CSU. Hopefully enough people will remember this in October.

I have a question and will give some background: We are building our first single-family house this year, we have a child, building permit in March 2018, taxable income < 90 K – thus all previously known requirements fulfilled.

With the application and then approval, the child benefit will then be paid retroactively from date x (in our case possibly March due to the building permit).

Sorry, thick fingers and all. Can someone delete the post from me above? Thanks.

I have a question and will briefly elaborate: We are building our first single-family house this year, we also have one child, building permit in March 2018, taxable income < 90 K – so all previously known requirements fulfilled.

With the application or then approval, the child benefit is then paid retroactively from point x (for us possibly March due to the building permit). So far so good. But now it is increasingly being read here that for another child, who is not yet born at the current time, the Baukindergeld is also paid accordingly (regardless of whether the full 10 years from birth or – period from approval).

Are these assumptions, “reading between the lines” or other interpretations? I read a lot from the press, KfW site etc. but can find no information whatsoever about a child not yet born...

These are assumptions (I think the official text of the parliamentary group does not read like that, but it is simply not explicitly stated). We will have to wait at least until the draft bill for these details. The only thing that seems certain to me is that the first child must be born at the time the building permit is issued. Don’t drive yourself crazy, you can’t change it anymore anyway (it’s different for us, in the middle of planning the house, provider chosen and the second has an appointment at the end of October…).

They are only assumptions. However, why should the mentioned limit of 75k€ without a child be mentioned then. One could have just directly stated 90k with one child.

That is exactly what the only official text I know (at cducsu de) says. Ultimately, any statement of the income formula is equivalent; one could just as well write "150k for a family with 5 children, plus or minus 15k for each child more or less." The 0-children income only makes the calculation simpler, more intuitive, and less complicated, that's all.
