Hello

Our situation is as follows:

Income under 90K€,
4 children under 18,
Building permit received in April
Construction has already started
Move around January / February

It has to work out with the Baukindergeld, right? Is it clear what happens with the children if they turn 18 during the approval period (so within the 10 years)? Is the allowance still granted then or is it canceled?

You can also inform yourself. Either you call or read on the website. It clearly states what happens with children over 18.

It also says there that applications can be submitted now, but documents can only be uploaded from March 19 onwards. So no money before mid-19.
In case the question about the payment timing comes up immediately.

Also interesting is the KfW comment that the fund is limited and that you don’t need to be German to receive it.
I’m curious when clever large families from abroad will find access to the fund and drain it.

Yes, you are right, that sounds totally rushed. But it wasn't. The fight to build our dream house on a beautiful piece of land had already been going on for 4 years. The foundation slab was poured on 12/20 and we were just so happy to have that stupid red dot in our hands and to be secured. Because yes, we had already started with the earthworks and the company would have been delayed. It seems totally naive to start building a house on a still foreign plot, but here in the countryside we had full trust in the previous owner.

The child construction subsidy was already being discussed at that time. At first, however, it was said to be retroactive to 7/1/17. And at that time, no one could really believe it anyway. So, it can happen.

So enough talking. Sometimes things are different than they appear at first glance to outsiders

... And we would have fit in so well with 2 children and a normal income. But that's that, we are happy that many many other families can still benefit from it.

I just looked around a bit again on the KfW site in the FAQs. Unfortunately, my parents transferred the family home to us (my brother and me) a few years ago. It is not completely ours yet, but that is apparently already an exclusion criterion. By the way, this also applies to inherited houses. I hope I haven't ruined the day for some of you.

The following is stated on the KFW page:
Important: Whether you receive Baukindergeld and for how many children depends on your situation on the day of application. Two examples:

[*]You will receive the full Baukindergeld even for a child who turns 18 the day after the application is submitted.

Therefore, you should receive the full Baukindergeld even if a child turns over 18 after the application is submitted. Only the age at the time of application counts. At least, that is how I read and understand it.....
