We have had a last-minute arrival of offspring. This now makes me wonder whether we are theoretically eligible for Baukindergeld. Facts: House purchased in September 2019 (50% of the deed belongs to us, first acquisition), no child present. Renovation/refurbishment will probably be completed by mid to late 2021. The child will, if all goes well, be born in Q2 2021. Moving including change of registration is manageable. In my opinion, we would be eligible as long as we move in or change registration after the birth?

The building area is currently being developed here, which means we can't start building until summer 2021. If we receive a BG before (before 31.03.) (which is not yet certain), the actual start of construction would be later.


As far as I know, the following must be met for the application:
- Purchase contract or building permit between 01.01.2018 and 31.03.2021
- Registered residence in the home, but not longer than 6 months
- Income limits
- Children*
