Wait with the building application because of the child construction allowance

Thank you. That would help us if the move-in is only in 2020. I'm curious whether the FAQ will be updated over time with these questions so that it's also in writing, or whether one has to rely on verbal statements and then possibly experience a surprise after applying...

I rather believe the second. They won't show their cards to shut down possible "smart alecks" and save on Baukindergeld.

It still has to be occupied and re-registered. So it will take a few more months for new buildings. Out of boredom, I checked the grant portal today. The Baukindergeld funding 424 can be applied for.

On the topic of income limits:

I called KfW today and inquired about the topic of income limits/crediting for periods without children.

Specifically:
Move-in: 2019
Childbirth: 2018
Income proofs for: 2016 & 2017

Statement from KfW:
The number of children at the time of application is valid, RETROACTIVELY for the income limit.
That means, for the above-mentioned child, an average of 90k is possible for 2016 & 2017.

I can’t (or maybe don’t want to) imagine that.
That would totally complicate things.

Why complicate things? In the version, the processor looks at the application and sees aha 1 child = allowance 90k. In the other version, they would first have to look at the birth date and then calculate the allowance for the respective year, depending on the birth year - I find that complicated.

However, I unfortunately don't trust the statement and consider the "more complicated" version to be the more likely one...

It would be more complicated, yes, but solvable by machine. In that respect, actually no processing effort.
