Wait with the building application because of the child construction allowance

It is relevant for us as well. Personally, I think it’s about first ownership. Because the money is supposed to enable families to have their own home. Those who already have one will not be supported, or so I think, although I have no idea. It’s also bad for us because we have outgrown our current house. We bought it with 2 children and now have 5, and are building new because of the children so that everyone has a room. We probably won’t receive any support.

Yes, I am curious... if the Baukindergeld comes about like that, I also suspect that it is so... and then we’ll see... the apartment belongs to me since my parents gave it to me... before marriage and children... whether that then excludes it as well... maybe I’ll have my wife sign the purchase contract... would that then count as first ownership again? No idea... as I said, it won’t change our plans, but for 2,400 per year for 10 years (we have two children), I will definitely take a close look at whether it comes and under what conditions...

For us, it would be 500 euros every month. I would already have a hard time with that internally if we don’t get the funding. Hardly any large families buy a house with 10 rooms in their mid-20s and say, "we’ll fill them all" [emoji23]. Usually, you buy with 1-2 children and the large families in our circle of acquaintances usually move into a second house. Therefore, it is really annoying, because you buy/build bigger specifically for the children and then get nothing. In contrast, families with 1-2 children, where both parents can easily work, usually earn more money and are not as dependent on funding as families with many children.

Is it really the right approach to build a house suitable for everyone with >5 children? There is the risk of vacancy, eventually you run out of ideas for alternative uses, and selling it probably won't be easy either. No criticism at all, just an honest question.

Thanks to this forum, the connection plan is already in place [emoji41]. We are building so that later we can combine two of the four lower children's rooms and either use them as a practice, or rent out the entire lower floor. Besides, we have few square meters that are well divided for our purposes. You just can't find that in existing properties. That's why building made sense for us.

By the way, I actually find the question very legitimate.

I totally agree with you, Fuchur. In our case, it's a bit different. I was lucky to get my parents' apartment and also invested money there, which seemed more sensible to me than renting. Now with two children, it's no longer enough for us. It feels like it would be our first purchase... even if we might fall through the cracks there.
