As far as I have always read and understood:
The date of the land purchase does not matter. For new buildings, the date of the building permit counts, and for existing properties, the date of the notarial deed counts.

Acquisition refers to the purchase of houses or apartments, not plots of land. If you are building new, the permit or the date of approval counts. I think you were unfortunately two weeks too early there.

I always wonder when I read something like this or similar, what the background of such an action is? It makes no sense at all to obtain a building permit so early before construction starts. Especially as an exemption. The building application is approved in at most 1 week anyway. And then before Christmas in winter when nothing happens anyway.

Many people, including myself, were not aware of the Baukindergeld issue before February, but you could have easily waited the 3 weeks. Really a shame about the money.

Have you already started building? If not, the only option left is to withdraw the building application and build smaller or bigger. That is just a guess that should be coordinated with the building authority.

Otherwise, you missed the deadline by 2 weeks and will not receive Baukindergeld.

Thanks. That would help us if the move-in is only in 2020. I’m curious whether the FAQ will be updated over time with these questions so that it is also in black and white or whether you have to rely on verbal statements and then perhaps experience a surprise after applying...
