Apart from the fact that the entire topic of Baukindergeld is on shaky ground because of the asylum issue, I found additional information online:

- The date, i.e. 01.01.2018, will not be changed.
- The SPD additionally wants to include restrictions regarding the purchase price and the size of the property in order to save the budget. The CDU/CSU does not.
- Only existing children are subsidized, meaning that after the application is submitted, one can have as many children as they want; there will be no more Baukindergeld.
- It still applies that if a couple bought/built a house after 01.01.2018 and had no children before the application, then there will be no Baukindergeld. Even if children are born later or currently planned, that does not count.
- Payment is made after moving in and submitting the registration certificate.
