You are classified according to the activity you perform, so it can well be that an academic is only classified as a clerk E8 or something like that. But then usually what you also did happens: sooner or later the academic leaves, therefore at least new hires are also classified "appropriately*. I only write this because there are publicly accessible tables for the public sector and East as West, province as big city, the same salary is paid. You don't have to wildly guess what an academic earns in the public sector. And yes, 2 academics with 2 children probably do not receive Baukindergeld. Unless they are still very early in their careers.

The coalition agreement has been signed.

Let's see if [Baukindergeld] will also be granted retroactively and, if so, what the deadline will be.

Finally. Although a CDU politician has already mentioned that the Baukindergeld should not be granted retroactively.

Google "Gribl Baukindergeld".

Whereas retroactively this is not a specific restriction of the Baukindergeld (this was already the case, for example, with the Herdprämie). This is due to legislative reasons. One simply has to define a cutoff date in the law. To avoid legal problems, this is usually a cutoff date shortly after the law comes into force. In other words, as long as it is not on the legal document and published in the Bundesanzeiger, I would not count on it...

We just have to wait. The CDU's election program included a fixed date, but this was no longer in the coalition agreement. The date was already in the past at the time it was written into the program. Mr. Gribl did negotiate, but some of his other statements in the interview have already been disproven, for example that the Baukindergeld would come as part of a legislative package for the housing offensive. Today's reports from Volker Kauder sound quite different (see Spiegel). The latter at least give hope that there will be clarity on this matter in a few months (however, I would still not hold out much hope).
