So, even after a (admittedly superficial) search with a well-known internet search engine, I didn’t really become any wiser. I rather got the impression that somewhere there were some numbers, someone wrote about them, and everyone else just copied from that. You can’t really find out anywhere how the numbers are derived. I still couldn’t find anywhere a proper explanation of this annual budget topic. I had a hard time finding out how much is really available? Per year, in 10 years, how it’s calculated, etc., as I already wrote in an earlier post. For example, I have come across the following numbers several times: by the end of 2018, about 48,000 approved applications (87,000 children) in 3 months for which nearly 1 billion has already been reserved. Currently, 3,000 applications are received per week. And if it goes on like this, the money will run out... but no one really addresses how the calculations are made. But one should not forget that within the 3 months everyone who retroactively fell in since January 2018 also applied. So if anyone ever finds something more concrete, I’m very interested... we will probably start in mid-2019 and move in mid-2020. So it could turn out really badly for us, otherwise we meet all the criteria.

Do I understand correctly that the Baukindergeld belongs to the [Innenministerium]? Accordingly, would Seehofer be the responsible minister?

Yep, Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community to be exact, processing via the KfW

I was able to reach someone at KfW today.

Unfortunately, there is an annual budget.

If moving in takes place in August, it could be that the funds for the year are already used up. An application would then not be possible. Since the application can only be submitted within 3 months, I might miss out then.

If the move-in is scheduled for October, at least there would be the possibility to postpone the application to January to be able to access the 2020 fund again...

In my opinion, a pretty unfair system... either play the lottery or bear 2 more months of double costs in my case... :-(

Did he say anything about the amount of this budget? And how is it calculated?
