What do you mean by that now?

On the CDU/CSU page there is an article on the topic. It says, for example, that the average of the two previous years is used for the income assessment. I deduce from this that there will be no continuous income assessment, as was the case with the Eigenheimzulage back then. There is again talk of legislative procedures and the Bundestag.

Thank you for the info. If it comes to that, we will just make it through the two-year average – I really wasn’t expecting that anymore.

Remember that it is about the taxable income. This is significantly lower than the gross income.

We both received severance payments in 2017, so with only 2017 we would be well above the taxable income, with 2016 it fits then

We just moved into our new building, our first property, on April 1st and as dual earners we're working our butts off so we can afford the living space for our 3 children (3rd child born in January). The rest then goes to daycare. We lived as four in 65 square meters over the last 5 years. My wife would also like to be able to stay home with the children once in a while. When I read the current news about the Baukindergeld, it really makes me sick. There definitely should be another solution found to support families with small children. But the "big" parties shouldn't be surprised if the next election turns out to be another failure...
